Vietnam Immersion

St Paul’s Catholic College is proud of our history of seeking opportunity to be in service to others, especially when helping those most in need. Working in partnership with Vietnam School Tours, the Vietnam Immersion Experience is more than a holiday, but an opportunity to expand our students’ worldview through tangible and meaningful community service. The immersion experience allows our students to explore a different culture while providing a service to others that need it in some way.  Apart from the apparent benefits – such as pride, satisfaction and accomplishment, Students who undertake the immersion return reporting:

• an increased sense of social responsibility – a global view of society and a heart for ‘giving back’ and helping others
• an appreciation for the opportunity to apply academic learning to real human needs
• stronger relationships and social connectedness with peers, teachers and communities being ‘served’
• Improved communication and critical thinking skills.
• improved self-belief
• improved ability to problem solve as part of a team
• a greater understanding of cultures and communities
• a greater awareness and understanding of social issues through ‘first-hand’ experiences
• an understanding of the catholic value of reciprocity - in giving, they receive

The Vietnam Immersion is one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences that our students will undertake in their school lives. In keeping with the Vietnam School Tours mission statement, by providing students to be involved in an immersion experience we are most certainly ‘opening their eyes’ and by doing so will ‘change their life.
