Curriculum
At St Paul’s Catholic College, we aspire to teach students to develop a deep appreciation for acquiring knowledge and skills, embrace collaboration, actively engage in critical and creative thinking and to be resilient and reflective learners. As St Paul was courageous, our students will also be distinguished by their courage – courage to dream more, to do more, to learn more and to be more.

In addition to the set requirements of the NSW Curriculum, St Paul’s Catholic College offers:
- Diocesan Virtual Academy
- Accelerated and extension subjects for targeted students
- A range of VET courses offered at the College such as Hospitality, Construction and external VET courses
- Studies in partnerships to complement their education such as school based apprenticeships and courses offered through TAFE NSW

NAPLAN
All students in Years 7 and 9 in Australia are required to sit the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). NAPLAN takes place each year with testing in Literacy (Writing, Reading and Language Convention) and Numeracy (non-calculator and calculator). Parents and the school will receive a statement of performance. The school uses NAPLAN results to indicate future planning and teaching needs.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education
St Paul’s has a strong connection to our Awabakal community as well as having active Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student representatives to lead initiatives and celebrate their cultural identity.
The educational achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students is promoted by:
- Providing safe and supportive learning environments which enhance the self esteem and cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Providing curriculum, teaching and assessment programs which are challenging and culturally appropriate
- Providing intensive literacy and numeracy programs as part of whole school approaches
- Encouraging and supporting staff to develop knowledge understanding and appreciation of the educational and cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
St Paul’s endeavors to further support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through the provision of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Officers.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Officers support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through positive engagement and cultural enhancement. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are supported with exam preparation, assistance with assignments as well as class and home work. For culturally significant events the officer will work with students to present a celebration to the whole school community.
Co-Curricular
St Paul’s Catholic College highly values the pursuit of academic excellence. Teachers are committed to assisting all students to reach their academic potential through a range of academic endeavours outside of the classroom. These include the Science and Engineering Challenge, Tournament of the Minds, Mock Trial Competition, Public Speaking Competition, the Lions Youth of the Year Competition and Debating.
Students are also encouraged to participate in various national competitions including Mathematics, English, Science, Chemistry, Business Studies, Geography and Computers. All of these endeavours, in addition to many others, enhance the academic potential of our students.
